ACS Fall Meeting 2023 Social Media Graphics
Work for hire for the American Chemical Society (ACS) Meetings & Events by Lara Lee while employed at CSG Creative with permission for Lara Lee to display for self-promotion.

Background
Chemists, chemical engineers, researchers, and industry decision makers will gather in-person and online this August 2023 for the American Chemical Society (ACS) Fall 2023 National Meeting & Expo. CSG Creative Art Director Courtney Lopes created the event’s visual identity while I execute its ad production across website, email, and social media channels. With a 24-hour turnaround and instant approval from the client, these 35 (and counting!) static and animated social media graphics satisfy every WCAG accessibility standard.

Designing “Safe” Color Combos
with New, Sharable Infographics
Every ACS social media graphic must pass the web accessibility color contrast test. I quickly learned what precisely the numbers measure and which color combos ensure text stands out from the background well enough to read. Since Fall 2019, ACS has used WebAIM’s tool.
This Meeting, however, ACS asked for a sharable, easy-to-digest infographic they can distribute to new employees and advertising vendors alike. They also relaxed the standards from WCAG AAA to AA to allow more creative freedom.
Therefore, I developed a sharable infographic and led a group workshop teach the basics of web accessibility and how to use these infographics.
I proposed an automated infographic using an online, custom toolkit. Instead the client preferred an editable InDesign document. The final creative is a sharable, interactive PDF that reports the passing color combos over most font-sizes and weights in simple Yes/No terms.
Finally, I also led a workshop with colleagues and the client. I wanted to reduce confusion and give everyone the confidence they’re using safe color combos.
