Case Study: ACS Fall 2021 National Meeting Digital Signage

Background

The American Chemical Society (ACS) launched its bi-annual National Meeting & Exposition to feature thousands of presentations on new discoveries in science—once more a hybrid event both online and in-person. The ACS Fall 2021 National Meeting & Expo is ACS’s second hybrid event, after its premier hybrid event last spring.

In addition to printed, on-site signage designed, the Fall 2021 Meeting also used digital signage to detail event information and promote live events, as well as instruct attendees how to navigate the virtual half of the event.

CSG Creative Art Director Courtney Lopes created the event visual identity and brand for the Fall 2021 Meeting. Using Lopes’s work as branding guidelines, I designed the first 10 signs with a 24-hour turnaround. Afterwards, the job evolved many times and required flexibility. The job was completed with minimal edits, approved, and archived, then re-opened four more times for new signs. We finished with a grand total of 13 slides of digital signage the client could use both on-site and on social media.

Finally, just like the Fall 2021 social media graphics, all digital signage must also must pass web accessibility color contrast testing to maintain user readability.
